NEWS FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Summer will be here soon and Jovenes en Camino is  blessed to have generous hearts and love of various brigades and individuals that give of their time to support the needs at Jovenes en Camino with their hard work and dollars.  We are grateful to all of you who will visit Jovenes this summer and if you are not able to visit, you can help by supporting these needed projects, praying for the children and staff, and telling others about Jovenes en Camino.

The Board of Directors for Jovenes en Camino has approved major capitol projects for this summer at the campus in El Zamorano, Honduras.  These projects include the following:
  • Replacement of the current exterior roof on the Library/Education building.
  • Installation of a new drop-ceiling on the interior of the Library/Education building.
  • Conversion of existing warehouse space to two areas to house the new Commercial Laundry and the new Water Filtration System.
  • Major alterations to the campus water supply and drainage systems to incorporate the new Commercial Laundry and Water Filtration System.
  • Repair/replacement of exterior fencing damaged by last year’s flood.
  • Completion of the painting of all of the exterior fencing.
  • Completion of the carpentry building with new windows, doors, and electricity installation.
Total completed value of these projects will exceed $50,000.  The board has already received cash donations and commitments in excess of $25,000 for these projects.  By utilizing donated labor supplied by the various brigades we have substantially reduced the amount of cash that we need to complete these projects.

We have the following specific needs for these projects and ask for your assistance:
  • 600` of schedule 40 PVC pipe (combination of 2?, 3?, and 4? sizing).
  • 3 large commercial laundry hampers with oversized tires.
  • 3  8` resin-top tables.
  • 10  4` fluorescent light fixtures with fluorescent bulbs.
  • 1 24` (+/-) heavy duty extension ladder (preferably fiberglass).
  • Monetary donations to complete the projects ($10,000-$12,000).
Donated items can be shipped on a overseas container that will  be departing in early April for arrival in late April.  If you can help us with these items, we will work together to have them shipped to Honduras.

Please let us know if you can help us with any of these needs.  It is a great challenge and with your help we believe we can make these dreams a reality. Thank you for your continued support and prayers.
Jovenes en Camino is supported by churches, caring individuals, businesses and foundations world wide.
