OUR VISION

The vision for Jovenes en Camino is much like the vision of any parent.  We desire to instill in the boys the love of God and a love for their fellowman with the hope that they can return to their communities as productive citizens.   We hope to prepare them for their future by assessing, over time, the strengths and abilities of the boys.   For some of the older boys, the age is rapidly approaching when they must venture out, spread their fledgling wings, and achieve some sort of self sufficiency. For some, higher education may be the correct route. Though public Honduran universities offer low cost education, the boys will need a source of income or financial support for housing and food during this time. Other boys may be more suited to enter into a vocational career. Jovenes en Camino offers some vocational training (carpentry and welding), with the goal of offering electical, plumbing, automotive mechanics and training in agricultural skills.   Plans are currently being made to help smooth and support the vital transition from Jovenes en Camino into the next phase of their lives.

We also have a vision to open a bilingual school that will serve the children at Jovenes en Camino as well as the community.  To offer the children the ability to learn English will give them more advantages and create an even more solid chance that they will break the cycle of poverty and neglect.

Jovenes en Camino has an additional 26 acres that is currently being used for agricultural production of fruits and vegetables to supplement the food supply at Jovenes en Camino.  The agricultural program is being evaluated and developed to create a sustainable opportunity to train the children in agricultural skills as well as growing produce to sell and feed to the children to offset food costs. This property was originally purchased with the idea of one day opening a home for girls.

Only with God`s help and the prayers and financial support of those that care about the works at Jovenes en Camino can we change the lives of those that call Jovenes en Camino ... home.
Jovenes en Camino is supported by churches, caring individuals, businesses and foundations world wide.
